So I about have my new 210 set up and noticed its not perfectly level. If I place a two foot level on the face its about an 1/8 of an inch in at the top, so it leaning toward the wall behind it. Do you thing this will be OK or should I shim the stand? I would just do it but its stinking heavy and with the custom canopy I don't think the water line will be a problem. Thanks for any advice

I believe the rule of thumb is that if a tank is slightly off-level in any one direction, it's not a major problem . . . the big problems are when it is off-level in two directions, say towards the back wall and to the left . . .

that being said, I would think leveling problems would increase with larger tanks . . . so you're probably okay, but I would like to hear more opinions on that . . .

Na, I think it will be fine.

Edit: I think leveling it now, when it's full, is a bad idea. Hindsight, leveling before filling would of been good. Now that its full, I would just leave it as is.

The stand is right on side to side. Its in the basement on carpet pad and concrete.

level it out!..
I could shim the back and sides toward the back. That is going to be a challenge. The stand, tank and canopy is about 80 inch tall and weights about 700 pounds with the sump. Kinda hard to shim that close to the wall.

Another option would be to place some styrofoam or padding between the tank and stand...

Its not full yet. Just wanted some opinions if this would cause problems upon filling>

Is there a type of styrofoam or padding you would recommend?

Next time you drain the tank would be a good time to deal with it.
Its not full so I can deal with it now. Just didn't want to make a lot of work if I didn't need to. It looks fine can hardly tell, I just don't want any problems.

I would just leave it. Tanks are typically manufactured to be OK with it being off just a tad. I don't recommend foam for any leveling purpose.

If its not full yet, level it. Its not worth it not to. There could be unseen strain on the tank due to only three corners of the stand touching. Make sure the stand is on a level surface all around. That is a lot of water and weight and gravity has yet to fail.
