Hey guys. Long time no see! I just updated my 300g set up thread and could use some advice. I want to aquascape it tonight.

I've boiled it down to two options:

A) Create a similar space as the one in my 180, using the large driftwood stump on the left, with plants scattered all about and a big piece on the right:CAM05388.jpg+CAM05385.jpg

B) Use the big piece of driftwood as a centerpiece, surrounding it with plants and rocks:CAM05386.jpg

Whatcha think? Any opinions welcome. The big piece looks great when flat against the substrate, but its floating a bit because I removed it to test something earlier.

Thanks! Missed you dudes.

Not including the stump will mean the gar and polys will have more room to swim. It will doubtlessly look better if I include the stump.

The 180 is really messy right now, but rest assured the params are perf.

Thanks meng! I'm really hoping his colors don't wash out on the garnet sand. I'm all in at this point. I might need to mix in more black if it does happen. He definitely needs the room.

I'm watching him destroy the last of a talapia filet right now. CAM05410.jpg

i think it looks better to have driftwood and decorations on either side of the tank rather than in the center. and it allows more swimming space (not that the bichirs need it.

What about putting a focal point on one side of the tank with taller plants and the stump then taper it down to open space on the other side.

Right no I'm leaning towards a reimagining of the 180:CAM03755.jpg
This is an old picture from last christmas. The only difference is that I think it would look better to move the stump about a foot to the right, put another large amazon sword to the left of it, and add more greens to the right.

The footprint on the 300 is great for scaping--72Lx36Dx26H.

I want to give my fish as much room as possible though. My Faranah lap hangs out in the stump 80% of the time, so she would probably be really upset to suddenly not have a cave to defend. The polys in the 8-10" range all like to hide in the ferns around the stump too. Bleh. Torn right now.

I just purchased a similar sized tank (30" high instead of 26") and I'm going with the decorations on either side instead of the middle

Here is My first attempt:
CAM05423.jpg I'm not really satisfied. Looks too similar to the 180, and somehow I lost the sense of realism. What do you guys think?
