i was wondering if everyone could post their tips and hints as to how to take great photos of their fish. what kind of equipment do you use, angles, lighting, etc. i'm sure i'm not the only person who would love to learn how to take beautiful photos of their fish! :D

I agree, feel this is a huge part of the community. And not everyone has access to a nice SLR. How do those with a plain jane digital take shots, and how to make the best of what you got?

No flash. (unless you have a remote one on top of the tank)
Wide apeture, slow shutter.
If you're using a digital camera try to reduce the film speed to about 200, otherwise it will look grainy (unless you have a top nbtch camera)
TONS of WHITE light on top of the tank works well..
I am convinced that with digital cameras, you get what you pay for....but you can get decent pix with the cameras in the $300-$400 range. It just takes practice and manual settings. oh yea, a manual focus is a big help too:)

and the number 1 rule is CLEAN GLASS lol

As rallysman said clean glass is a must. Also if you need to use a flash angle your camera at like 45% so you dont get the flash reflection.

thanks for the info guys! believe me, i'm glad to here anything.

Another tip I've heard of and have tried a few times is taping tissue/toilet paper over the flash to diffuse the light. I had to fold mine about 4 times before I got good results, but my camera is still ****ty. lol
