Let me tell you the story before you flame up.

5 days ago the jd decided the tank was his and started being a jerk. So I took him out and placed him in the tank with a flower horn. While the JD never bothered the FH the FH would just hide all day. So I figured I would try to put the FH in the big tank, but boy was that a mistake because my Texas Cichlid flipped out and tried to kill the FH and then started nipping at other fish. So now I am bad my fish just changed over night and cant be housed in the same tank that he has been in for a year. and if I house him in the other tank he scares the flower horn.

SO I decided to try and put the JD back in the main tank and do a large water change on the FH tank. Well this video is what happened the second the JD hit the water in the main tank. I was forced to watch while the FH tank refilled with water.

If those are aquatic pit bully, does that make you the aquatic equivalent of Michael vick? Ok I'm kinda kidding, I know fish will fight, but you can't watch that, film it, and put it on mfk and not b ready to be burned

My JD was the meanest fish i've ever owned....he would attack the glass as soon as I walked in

I guess everyone missed the part where I said the other tank was doing a large water change, by large I mean 80%. 20% of a 55 gallon is not enough for a 8" JD to stay in. I expected to get some bad comments I was not happy these are my fish and i never really expected this out come, I figured it would be like it was when I took him out the first time, just some chasing. Honestly I am in a really bad spot right now, the 55 is really to small for the JD and even if it wasn't the FH now hides all day, and can't go in the main tank. So now I have to figure out what to do with my JD who i love he is beautiful with his mohawk, i think he at least needs a 18" tank

The JD was never mean or anything he was always just like what ever and litterly one day just turn, where as the texas was always attacking the tank wall some times the texas would attack it so hard I thought he would hurt him self.

My wife posted this video on her FB and like two Fish super experts tried to tell us those fish where actually getting ready to mate and not fighting, so glad those experts told us the truth.

cichlids will be cichlids lol,,, if your gonna keep em you gotta be ready to split them up and have the tank space.

Maybe try just isolating the texas in the 55g is the JD and FH don't fight in the big tank. This is why I gave up on the big cichlid community. Every time just as you seem to get harmony, one of them goes off.

If you stated that is happened almost immediately after you added the other JD, I highly DOUBT they were getting ready to breed.

My Jag and RT do this (but only for maybe a minute- then the RT retreats), and they are both males.. def not trying to breed there.

You weren't "forced" to do anything. 20% of the water would be enough for the jd to stay in while refilling. It would lay on its side. like already said you can't post something like this and not expect to be flamed.
