Aquatop Products - Anyone have any experiance?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just bought the CF-500UV, when it comes in tommorow, definately going to compare it to my old rena xp3 =)

i have an aquatop uv-400 and i LOVE IT. LOVE. IT. XD
it's completely silent [in my bedroom, so it has to be!], very efficient and large media-room. i freaking love it all around, but i recently accidentally broke the glass sleeve and uv light while cleaning it :c but all the pieces are otw, and i sealed everything temporarily so i could set it up again. i had to epoxy some of the connectors after breaking them, too. they have everything made so you can really take it apart&clean it, but i managed to crack the delicate plastic on some of the pieces and had to seal them together. mine came with a missing part, which is why i broke it; horsing around trying to figure out why the heck it wasn't fitting properly. not all the pieces are so delicate, though; all the problems i had were on the spray bar. otherwise it's been sturdy. i was new to canisters when i got it, but even with other good reviews for fluval&& the like, i will probably stick with aquatop ♥ mostly because of how quiet; i'm really interested in hearing if the larger models are loud.

Yes, I've heard that the smaller models are near silent, but I've heard the biggest one is pretty loud!

now i'm pretty excited to hear someone's experience, haha! i was considering the 500 as well for another tank, but if it's loud that would be disappointing. i wonder how quiet their HOB's are?~

just recieved my CF-500 today, plastic spray bar is cheap, broke mine already, louder than a XP3, but not by much, and the flow is kinda slow...

happy that it came with all the filter media, and shipping was fast

Just received my CF500 UV today... all in all besides having too many spray bar parts and a couple of missing critical connectors... By using some extra xp3 parts I was able to piece together a decent spray bar.. flow seems more on par with and XP3 or Fluval 405... UV has an on /off switch.. baskets seem to hold a ton of material , didnt use the inexpensive charcoal bag that was included ..filled top basket with scrubbies..very quiet, I was surprised based on previous reviews.

Side by side with FX5 and E2260 those are still the filters to use if you are only going to be using one filter on your 150+ gal tank.... CF500 UV is an inexpensive redundant or second filter option in dual canister filter setup.
