Tanks to small for hosting Anemones, would be fine for smaller ones like Curly q's but then corals would be out of the question - the nem's would kill'm. Also it's gonna be tough to keep coral friendly water parameters in 15 gal with 3 fish - you'd be changing water everyday and even then no garuntees.

Your water flow should be at a min. 10x the 15 gal - so 2x hydor nano's rated @ 75-100 gal per hr saltwater. Purgien in the HOB is a good option so is chem-pure elite. Most of the corals, esp. stoney's get too big for 15 gal + 8w lighting - your light and tank would be fine for mushrooms and ricordea corals.

So even with the 3x6watt led's plus the 8 watt factory bulb there is no chance of any corals? I'm confused. One minute you say no corals, then suggest some. You say no anemone, then suggest one that will eat the chiral you said I can't have. So instead of you can't have this or that, could you please tell me what I could have. If it was your tank, what would you put in it? How would you set it up?

Salt get confusing like that. Some things work some of the time. I don't think there's a whole lot that's set in stone over here as far as critters. I think that's why people like it so much. As far as I'm concerned, the very worst I can do is try, right? I've already had to put my damsel up for adoption because of a personality clash with a new flame angel. Its a lot to learn. And it seems to me that a lot of its pretty gray. lol, don't get frustrated, hang in there!

So I got 15 pounds of sand from my lfs. It's just the plain aragonite sand. I talked to the sw expert there and he was helpful. He suggested I set the tank up a fish only, and slowly upgrade the lighting as I go. So do I add the sand before the rock, or vice versa? I assume you would place the rock flat on the glass and the full in around it with the sand in order to keep it from tipping over. I will buy the water pre mixed from him as it is a reasonable price, and I don't have access to ro water otherwise. So I will get 10-15lbs of live rock and around 10 gallons of water. This sound ok so far?

Sounds good.

Also, what do you plan on doing for a protein skimmer?
Well I know hydor makes a slim internal one. But I was going to try and find a hob skimmer that would fit. Any suggestions?

Don't get frustrated you have a whole new world of stuff to learn about. There are many types of anemones and corals not all are the same. For starters "hosting" anemones are generally fish and coral safe, your tank is too small for one. There are smaller anemones that would work in 15 gal however they are not reef + fish safe, they are generally very aggressive with a very powerful sting. As for corals there are 2 general types soft skeleton and stoney skeleton, some need intense lite others not so much. Most get way too large for your tank- some small species of mushrooms however will work in 15 gal with low lite. Baby or fragged Stoney corals will work in the tank size with 1 or zero fish but will out grow it. The more fish you have the more "dirter" the water - stoney's like clean water. Mushrooms however can handle poorer water conditions and low lite + low flow. I've seen several very experienced ppl try micro reefs - they aren't easy and most failed within a year. The water volume and ppm's aren't on your side. Research everything.
