Aqueon filters vs Hagen Aquaclear

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Def stick with the ACs. I have been using them for years. The one AC 70 I have has a rattling lid but doesn't appear that way. I just sat a small container on top and if fixed it. Try that first, if the noise goes away, then we can consider alternative methods to stopping the noise. Best of luck!

Aqua Clear filter on every tank......This is what you will see in my fishroom.......I see the "AC" as more of mechanical fitration unit, while my DIY wet/dry handle the Biological..........I always place two on each tank, just something I do.......

I have AC 70 and 20 and two Aqueon 30s! I've sold the all of them except the 70. IMHO, Aqueons are great since they have good flow rate and don't have any room for bypass while the ACs leave a tiny space. Cartridges for Aqueon are cheap on Amazon but everytime you change them, except some instability in your tank. The "bio-holster cartridge" thing is just a gimmick, and so is the 4th stage wet-dry "super oxygenation" thing. I like my ACs. The plastic is cheaper than the Aqueon, and my lids never fit right, but they're quieter and the media is a lot more flexible.

My .02!

My aquaeon stopped working after a year. I switched to ACs since I had heard so many good things. Mine was loud when I first set it up but after a couple days it was silent. The same thing happened when I got my AC50 to replace the aqueon on my 29 gallon.
