Has anyone used the aqueon 55/75 filter before? Any opinions on which is better?

Well here's the pros and cons for ne as i bought one last month to replace my aq70 that leaked. Both run the same price here at $59.99. and the aqueon is on sale right now for 46.99 and lots of people selling used aq70s for around $30 that's why i'm debating.

Aqueon
-pros says it runs 400gph and a decent sized box and is really quiet. The motor is inside the fish tank so if anything leaks it'll leak into the tank instead of all over the house. Feels like better plastic then the aq. Has three plastic parts for catching dirt, two meant for aqueon brand filter media but i don't buy i just use filter floss biomax and sponges but leave the plastic holder in. And one at the end where the water flows out. Quick prime. not as wide so it doesn't awkwardly stick out

- cons the media box is taller then it is wide so it makes maintenance harder and harder to fit thicker media down like biomax and thicker carbon bags.

AQ70
-pros wide square media box easy excess. See through plastic so its easier to clean and see dirt. Easy maintenance, supposed to be long lasting, and so called work horses. The box is big enough to allow an assortment of different media. Lost of separate parts you can buy to keep it running like new.

-Cons louder motor, less flow at 300gph. too many parts that can break and hard to find. motor is on the outside so when it breaks or gaskets leak its dipping all over the floor. Slow and loud priming. see through plastic so when the tubes get dirty and you can't clean it it looks gross. wide and sticks out, louder.

So these are my opinions and if anyone has any others please feel free to respond. I would like to know if anyone else is using this filter and what do they think of it?

Or if you haven't which one would you choose? I have only been using this filter for a short time and had the aq70 for much longer before it leaked, so just wanting to see what others feel.

Thanks

Hands down the AquaClear is a better filter. Have some that are still running trouble free after 30+ years. I own about 20 AquaClears and have only had to replace an O ring once. Parts are readily available online.

I have a aqua30, and I've seen 55/75, media capacity is very rough and there is way to much filter bypass, I can literally take the lid off mine and see half the water bypass the filter media and pads.... Just grab a used ac110!

If you want a filter that will last 10+ years then ac is the way to go Bro!

I have used aquaclear pumps for as long as I can remember. Its not a quite pump but the performance is IMO a bang for the buck. I have not tried the other pump in question sorry. GL in what ever one u choose.

That's a confusing response :p

I wish I could get the 110 but i'm budgeting atm till my cars all fixed and insured :p. I already have a 55/75 wanted to know others opinions. I wished my aq70 lasted 10 years it lasted like 6 months (used) then i replaced it with the aqueon for its flow. I have one aqueon30 , aqueon 55/75 and a aquaclear20 and i had a aq70. the aqueon30 seems to be doing a great job. Maybe i'll get another aq70 so I could have the best of both worlds. You did remind me that i did notice that the flow by passes most of the second chamber where the media is. hmm still tough because the aqueon is only $46.99 new!

Still would like others opinions

Just sayin that i used the aqueon 55/75 and am really satisfied with it, especially the noise, but i never used the ac70 so i cant realy compare them
