Aqueon Quiet flow 55/75 vs aq 70?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The aqueon is an amazing filter that pumps a serious amount of water with lots of media capacity. I fit 14 scrubbies in mine and they all get dirty evenly so im not seeing flow missing the media. My favorite hob by far. Filled ith media i dont see loss in flow at all. Imo the best filter for the price and a good budget replacement for ac110

I would go with the AC110. Adjustable flow rate from 300-500gph, large space for media capacity, and runs quiet. i have one on my 75 gallon and only had one issue with it. The impellor stopped turning, turned out it was just dirty. Gave it a good cleaning and works like new. The downside to them is they are see thru and they can get dirty but its nothing a little cleaning can't take care of.

for the money ,I would go with the aqueon ....I have used the aqeon 30 for about 3yrs...200 gph (and it LOOKS like it)and you can use b/w bonded in the "holster" ,to replace inserts .so if the 55-75 is actually 400 gph ,I would think it's a steal for under $50....ac 110 is a great filter ,but I would just as soon buy a new filter for 40 bucks as a used one , thats likely to be noisy ,hence the reason someone got rid of an ac110

Like I said everyone Im budgetting. And I decided to go with the aq70 got it for $30. So then I bought other needed accessories too :p. First thing I remembered I hated the the end of the filter where it flows is higher up and with less obstacles to make it come out calmer it just drops and creates so Manny bubbles in the water! Only way yo fix it is to have the water up higher but I don't have a proper lid since its an all glass tank and now the filter is in the way of the old lid. It messed up my set up. I hate stray bubbles from filters AHHHH

I need to spark up my fish life

I have a marine land emperor 400 bio wheel, it was super cheap has 400gph relatively quiet and has really good circulation flow coming from it. I paid around 45 dollars for it. with some of the ones I looked at being nearly double the price and in my opinion not any better, or at least not better enough to warrant paying that much for it.

update ....Ihad my fluval 304 bust a latch ...and decided rather than order a new bucket I would try an HOB instead(I have all hob ,sponge filter combos on all 5 of my tanks....now)......so enter aqueon 55/75...set it up sunday...so far it does a good job mechanically filtering the tank....better than the 304 ,I set it up with just the stock inserts as I have a pen350 and a sponge filter also...so no need for extra bio...I AM HAPPY WITH WATER FLOW AND OVERALL PERFOMANCE.......final early conclusion ...it is superior to ac70 for mech. and flow and is priced lower...by about $10

I have had my aqueon 75 for about 3 months now and its my favorite filter. Picked it up for $23 on drfosters on sale. Its still only like $30 regular price on there too. So much room for othe media options. Will buy more just to have as spares

I plan on using the aqueon for my large hob applications ,it seems like the best big hob in terms of value...
