Hello. I have an Aqueon tank stand in black so it is the one made of pine. It is actually labeled "All Glass Aquarium". A board on one end that is one of the vertical supports and one on the opposite end are starting to bow inward. Should I be concerned? What could cause this?

Has anybody else had this problem? Is there anything I can do? Can I add reinforcement into the stand?

I bought the stand brand new and I have been using it for about a year now.

get some 2x4s under it for support.

Should I cut 2x4s the same length as the boards that are there and screw them onto the stand over the boards that are already there?

Call the manufacturer and see if they can send the rep for your area or see if they can give you a place to take it (yes it would mean tearing down the tank) and this would be your last resort. But AGA/Aquaen does stand by there product but they are going to make sure you made no modifications and the minute you modify that stand they void there warranty which I am not sure if it is lifetime or 20 years. My friend had this issue and the first question they asked him was any modification made and they wanted plenty up close pictures.

Well, that is definitely not what I wanted to do because that would be a huge undertaking. I don't have a second tank to put my fish and I know this thing empty took three people to lift on the stand. They will probably already not replace it anyway because I had to remove a board just to get my sump in and screw it back in. So I don't know if they would call that modification or not. Then again I had emailed them before and they told me that is what I would have to do. Really though if they could send me new boards, I would could just replace the ones that are bowing.

I have the same crappy pine stand for my 210g. I bought mine on craigslist (was never used) so I was pretty sure the warranty was not transferable so I modded mine heavily. I added 2x4 supports underneath the bottom floor and throughout the inside. I added a full bottom and top out of 3/4" ply. Also a complete 3/4" ply back with access holes for elect and plumbing was done. All of this was glued and screwed together. Then I trimmed it out and repainted it. This thing is now a beast and will hold anything. I really am suprised they can sell these things like they are.
