Aqueon vs. Python Water Changer - Which one is better?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Idk what mine is just a plastic cylinder hook to a tube and run it out the window. Have never had one break or have any problem. Think I paid $10 for it and I've had it 10+ years since I was a kid and dad cleaned the Oscar tank with it

Save your money and spend some time making your own. Home depot/lowes have everything you need to make a system 100x's better than either of your choices.

I'd personally rather save time and buy a python that will last 6+,years even if it costs me a little bit more

I use an aqueon. I had to buy ghd brass faucet adapter and the tubing is a little stiff, other than that no complaints...going on 3 years of 2x weekly use on 3 tanks

With either one just get the brass faucet adapter and have an extra faucet pump because they do break. I have the python and have no complaints. I'm on my 4th faucet pump since 2007 and I always stock an extra one just in case because 5 gallon buckets and two large tanks (used to be five) don't mix.

This! Get the brass adapter and a few extra faucet pumps(the device that you screw into the faucet adapter) and your set. We have a python and works fine. The faucet pumps always break or get stripped...doesn't matter what kind.

Its a matter of time for me. The store bought ones take for ever to drain larger tanks. I cut my drain and fill by well over an hour. Probably closer to 2-2.5 hours when I clean all my tanks in a day. Now when it gets down to a 6 hr rescape and full maintenance over an hour less time spent is pretty nice. Or I can do a wc in less than an hour on my 180.

Care to share what you have? I made a faucet pump with copper and brass, looked like a terminator version of the cheap plastic ones. Only problem was I could not get the vacuum as strong as the Python.IMG_20120715_114206.jpg

I drain mine straight out a door or window. Draining into the faucet really really slows down your drain/suction. I use a garden hose, the original python/aqueon clear tube that I drilled out to accomidate the garden hose barb. For filling I use a couple simple adapters that go straight from my faucet to the garden hose. Very simply designed, cheap and works way better. Ill snap a photo when I get home later.
