Im getting my 130 gallon tank on sunday. I will be putting in my 8-9 inch male Gt. Hes been with alot of smaller fish with no problems. I want to get a few Araguaia Orange Head's, will that be compatible? The tank dimensions will be 48x24x26 high with a FX5 filter.

It might work, if they have hiding spots the gt cant get into, and theres plenty of room for your gt.. I mean you could try it but they might get eaten..

Would not recommend this at all.

Orange Heads are known to be quite timid and show poor colour when housed with bigger, more dominant fish. I wouldn't keep a Gold Saum in a 4 foot tank to begin with anyway.

Are you saying a four foot tank(130 gal) is too small for a Gold Saum?

G'day,

I agree with Japes regarding the Orange Heads, I wouldn't try this.

Your 4x2 would do for the GT as a wet pet, at his size you'd need to think carefully about adding tankmates.

good luck

cheers

I personally would not keep a Male Saum in a 4x2 footprint for life, no. Volume is fine, length is small. Has the potential to almost grow to a quarter of the length of the tank.

wow thats weird i have 2 juvies in my 75 ( only keeping one ) and they do just fine.... yes males COULD and SHOULD grow to a foot long but i havnt seen any past 10 inches ( well a few may have been a foot long ) so IMO GTs are fine in a 4 foot tank...... ( i have a 4 foot by 18 by 21 )

Ic, makes sense. What would be a good choice tankmate for him then??
