Arapaima Alternatives?

Hello friends I have a 500 gallon 6x3.1x3.7 ft tank and It is way too small for an arapaima and they are illegal where I live so I was wondering if their is an alternative fish that looks and/or acts simular that would be more suitable for my tank?

If you don't mind it not swimming that much, but sort of looks like an arapaima.... wild caught lower jaw bichir ( congicus, ansorgii, lapradei)
