Arapaima found in Florida - Anyone else see this?

The lake of the ozarks is said to have a breeding population of red belly's. It gets just hot enough in spring and summer for em to breed and it stays warm enough for em to though out the winter as long as they stay by the natural springs. I would love to go out there fishing some day and seeing how they taste lol.

The de jure definition of invasive is any species not native to an area that has arrived there as a result of mans activities. The de facto definition is any species that the masses dont approve of.

That may be the case but looking at the size of that thing that would have had to be a huge tank/pond. Unless they are doing some photo magic to make it look bigger than it really is lol

I’m inclined to agree.
It could have been any number of reasons.
I’m thinking it was probably a person that wasn’t supposed to have it in the first place and it out grew what they could provide so they released it.
Hopefully it was a single specimen and they haven’t established a population.

Is that a second hook inside it's mouth? Judging by the state of carcass ,the stench alone would draw in people lol.
