Everytime I see them on the import list I have to take a deep breath and restrain myself lol. Such an awesome fish, but so, so big.
 
Yeah, after many different set ups, I always suggest 600-750 gallons (pools) to start with. Young just don't do well in small glass tanks. The great PTC will back me up on that if he sees this thread.
My last one was 6' in the first couple years. They grow fast, need MAJOR filtration to offset the waste production, need monster size enclosures and expect a huge food/electric/water bill.
 
lol 150G first then transfer it when it gets bigger? you must be kidding, it is well capable of smashing the glass of that tank, and arapaima's can jump high if feel threatened.
