Arapaima gigas

The first 2 years goes by quickly, I don't know if I'd call that a 'very long time' when looking at a fish that could out live it's owner.

Lol really gigas has a longer life span than people? that is encouraging ^^

But seriously, from what i have seen (granted not that many overhere), gigas does not grow very noticeably after 5' my neighbor feeds them like crazy with market fish (and dog food) and i don't really them growing.

Mines are growing like weed, but they are approaching 3' only ... in wayyy less than a year =P i am sure it will not reach 5' at the end of next year, but don't worry a provisions (piggy bank) has been made for the pond. I am thinking something like:

- my current set-up in multiple cells (9mx6m or 9mx9m) since i know that a 3m glass pannel embedded in concrete works quite well
- my neighbor's set-up or TL's - i have no shortage of space

I am leaning toward the first one cos get to see fish from the size, but more risky in terms of leakage and limited in space ... got time to think ^^
