i currently have a 7 ft by 2.5 ft by 3 ft tank and want to buy an arapaima. How long will it take a juvenile to grow to about 3 feet? or at least big enough to live with 3 feet red tail catfish in my pond. thanks for ure help. DW guys my pond is pretty big.

I think probably a year but johnptc will chime in soon I'm sure..

how big is pond, exactly? Just curious. I agree, 1 year.

post pics of pond!!!

Not even a year - I'd say 7 months. A tank only 3 ft front to back will be BARELY wide enough for a 2 foot animal to turn in. They just don't like corners.

i'am very exited when people wanna share the most wanted monster..

listen..never put arapaima(s) in aquarium..
that would be tragedy to you one year later..!!!
they can smack out your aquarium.
PUBLIC AQUARIUM=OK...
you better put them in pond..
actually they grow rate depend how much you "party" them..

6 months in the tank den mebbe do the transfer? i'd say a year might be 2 long... and a paima MIGHT grow faster den tat if fed properly... i'm not saying it will but it MIGHT... i think half a year would be good enuff... cheers...
