ARAPAIMA GROWTH RATE !HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I saw my first pima in person this weekend. Awesome fish indeed.

thanks for ure help guys. the tank i will temporarily keep the arapaima in is a custom built cement based tank which is a permanent structure in my house. it has extra thick glass and everything because it was originally meant for snakeheads of arowanas only. the pond i hav is 20 feet by 8 feet by 5 feet deep. it is in a kidney shape which is perfect for arapaimas. i want to grow the juvenile arapaima with a jardini (in the 7feet by 2.5feet by 3feet tank) or sum sort of arowana that i also intend to put in my pond. will it work?

Pimas grow an average of 2" or so a month, if not more. At this rate he'll outgrow your 2.5ft wide tank in 5-7 months if he was theorecticly put in there at 1" of size.
