Are they completely illegal here or can you get permits for one if you have the proper facilities for them?

does anyone know how i could get one legally? i called the guy who handles illegal fish at Texas Parks and Wildlife and left a message a long time ago, never heard back from him.

That's crazy. You guys in texas are really limited on what fish you can buy. It must suck. I imagine most of you are cichlid keepers.
you guys think texas is bad, i live in hawaii! we cant get crap here no snakeheads, no bichir, no gars, no sting rays, and of course no arapaima. lol you guys lucky, but if its illegal we got a lake here that people throw their illegal fish into and some people like me catch them
