Are they completely illegal here or can you get permits for one if you have the proper facilities for them?
I left a message for Texas Parks and Wildlife and I don't think they're calling back anytime soon

Yeah I'm wanting to know if i could legally get one here with a permit or any other possible way, it's one of those "have to have" fish for me and I have the perfect space for it

I just read his thread about his pond. The link doesn't work out of his sig though.

Still I don't think you know what you are getting into with an arapaima. Its like housing and feeding a horse. You have tons of time in the future so why not wait until you are a little older, have your own place, and have enough money to do it how you want it? You could do a tank like arapaimag after saving up and keep all the big tropicals you want. But yes, winters will be a problem as there is really no way other than a propane pool heater to heat the water. Those costs in the several thousand dollars range.

We only have a month or two of winter down here and it hardly gets below freezing. And I have a large water heater to keep the temps at about 65+ when the weather is really bad. So that's not an issue. I just need to know if I could get an arapaima legally cus I'd rather not try to sneak one in and get busted

Thats weird, we must have posted at the exact same second because it doesn't recognize my post is there. It says there is only 8 posts when I clearly see 9, now 10. lol
