Arapaima leptosoma

Does anyone know about the size of arapaima leptosoma, can it be kept in an aquarium and if anyone has had experience with it

You seem to want info on fish that are not in the hobby, at least not in my country.

Arapaima arapaima?

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with these? I’m considering one and heard these max out at 4’ but probably smaller in captivity. Would be in a grow out 100 then 300 then 4000 gallon aquarium.

I have a 200x80x60 aquarium and I read somewhere that I could grow to 80 cm

I've never come across a small-growing arapaima in the hobby yet and I doubt there are such species that would stop shy of 3 feet but I'd like to know if anyone has?

or its an extremely rare fish that has only been measured a handfull of times at a very young age-

either way the fish would be as wide as the tank and about half the length- seems somewhat cruel.

Yes, unfortunately.

First, I doubt you will find a source of proven leptosoma.

Second, FishBase is founded on scientific articles. Whatever the scientists caught and studied, out of these specimen the largest is recorded as the "currently known" largest size. It is NOT the largest possible. It's the largest documented in the scientific literature.
