Do you honestly know how big arapaima get? It seems like you have no idea or you wouldn't even be thinking a tank.

im sorry. i really dont know how big it can turn into. i'll place them in my pond, that is if i do buy them. sorry again for the trouble.

ya that would would be a bad idea, those things get MASSIVE they wouldnt be able to live in a tank that small for very long..but good luck..

You need a way bigger tank. I think the pair of arapaimas I saw at vancouver aquarium were well over 10' long.

Arapaima gigas will grow easily over 8' and average 10' at adult size. You could house one by itself in that tank for about 2 years, but good luck after that.

He asked a question, he has an extremely large tank compared to some members on this website. He is obviously responsible and just wanted some advice. You dont have to jump down his throat for asking a question. Some people seriously need to develop some social skills in this forum.

Regardless. Getting a pair of Pima would be a "life decision" the pair will outgrow your tank by themselves in less than 2 years if fed correctly assuming you remove your aro / pacu stock. Assuming you'd move them to a pond after they grow is a fantastic idea assuming you have a pond with a floor space of at least 12-12-# blah blah blah. They get massive, and do jump (as you indicated), and making a "jump proof pond" of that size may pose a problem.

All in all pima's should not be owned unless you are fully prepared to house a fish of that size. id say maybe 1% of MFK could honestly house a full grown one. On a side note, be careful of that RTC with 8inch aro's, I know for experience an 8 inch RTC will fold a 12inch+ aro to eat, just keep an eye on him and use your best judgement.

cheers
