Arapaima Pond Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The drain to the toilet bowl will be used as well, overflow in case it rains.
Again, this overflow can be in the settling tank, since the rim of the pond is only 10cm below the top of the settling tank, it's easy to drill a hole with a PVC pipe epoxied in. 90' down and release into a storm-drain.

This week looks like lost on any work to be done....sigh.
It's crammed full with work and might even have to skip the Saturday.
Let's see, hopefully get some time to at least move Mr. T's pond outside his new one.
Then from there clear the area and dig out the rest of the pond.

If at least the holes for the drains are done then I can start with sun-shade, liner and maybe slowly filling the pond and straighten out the liner. Reaching the midlevel drain I can then cut and silicone that one.

I wish I could imagine just half of the things you write about :) ... i'm waiting for the day he goes in! Have you decided on "pool mates" yet?

Thanks for the comment Brian, hope it will all make sense once it's finished and done.
For tank-mates, sure the RTC/Hybrid.. Then Tilapia, leaning towards other locals like carp.
Might even try with some Koi, Sure is big enough and there should be plenty of flow up down and throughout the pond. Flowerhorn is another option. Seen some nice ones without the big hump on the head.

This will be a slow process, picking up smaller and bigger species over the coming months.
Not a major concern yet, as plants and finishing the pond itself has first priority.
I think it will be a matter of buying lots of smaller fish and see what survives and gets bigger.

Great post! cant wait to see the finished product!

Thanks Maor, same here.
Seems I got a lucky break, Saturday customer delayed so have enough people to work on the pond.
Look set to lift the temporary pond out.
Finish digging
Roll out liner
Start filling
Oh and drill holes for 2 more drains and fix the rail for sunshades.

I love to see all your dedication for this fish that wouldve otherwise died. Keep it up man
