ARAPAIMA POND MATES

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nah its not illegal. technically the pond is in my dad's land cause its directly behind my residence where my dad bought the land. we just havent developed it so it doesnt have walls or gates. its become a kind of a public community place where my neighbours chill in the shaded cabbanas and fish. so yeh i can put anything i want there. i dont stop people from putting their fish either. im just afraid of the snakeheads cause they r huge and scary....dangerous for small kids.

I would put a Gigas in there. See what happens. A channel cat would be great. Throw some in there, fish 'em out at the 2-5lb size. Good eating.

they are from the same genus i heard..just different size...should get along really well..

hey Mystix212...
im having hard times finding any goodlooking monsterfish in australia...maybe u have an idea?????

can you show us some pics of that pond and that lake? ;)

i want to know if its advisable to put an arapaima with my 2 CKS, 2 TSN and 2 RTCs all 3 feet. the arapaima is slightly smaller...any thoughts? btw the pond is 20 feet by 10 feet by 5 foot deep.

I wouldn't risk a pima in there. Considering they get 10 foot plus. If you want to get rid of the pima just imagine you trying to move a 10 foot pima it would be interesting. You can just think of what if you have to move, get out of the hobby etc etc.

my friend owns the biggest auqariujm in south east asia situated in malaysia. they have a large pima exhibit so im just growing out one for him. would the other fish annihilate the baby pima?

Make sure the pima isn't small enough for the tsn/others to eat, sounds like it's 2ft+ then I would think it should be ok.

Pat you can fish for pima in asia so I imagine over there he'll just eat it if he needs to get rid of it.. lol
