Anyone know where to get a arapaima? I herd that you need a license to own them, why idk. Anyways I think they are a very cool fish and i would love to have one if any one knows where to get one or is selling one.

I don't think you need to licence. However, I definitely suggest checking out JohnPTC's posts before you decide on whether or not to get one of these extreme monsters. As my husband just said, "Are you independently wealthy & have loads of spare time?" :)

you need a liscence to import them or to have them shipped to like a store or aquarium but not to own gl finding one there money but nothing compared to how much they eat or living space

Anyone know if a 125 gallon would be big enough for an arapaima?
Absolutely not! arampaimagrow up to 15 feet in the wild, you would need over a 10,000 gallon tank. CHeck out JohnPTC's threads in the articles section. You should do your research before you ask for one. I am sorry If I sound harsh, but very few people can have a tank over 10,000 gallons!

realistically you can keep an arapima in a 125 for a little bit mayb, a few months maybe a year. It'll be tough and they don't do as well smaller as they do larger. But your filtration will need to be overkill and you will need to upgrade to a tank that is as large as possible. (johnPTC's tank) It isn't a very good idea, you will be spending a huge deal of money for one fish that will eventually need a tank bigger than most living rooms. But like i said its possible for a few months in a 125. Think Into it before buying though becasue it is ahuge resposiblilty.
