Problem solved...
I am going to bid on one. When it is to BIG, I would like to invite you all to a BBQ at my house. NO JOKE!!

Aint nothing wrong with that. You're a better man than me as I wouldn't have the heart. Don't use any meds on it though that may make it unsafe for consumption.

sorry bro........sam ( our bigger gigas) is just shy of 5 feet in 26 months starting at about 16 inches.... 2 inches a
month.......now in a 5000 gal which i assume he will out grow in another 24 months.....:D :D :D :D :D

I SECOND THAT OBSERVATION WITH PPL...JUST BE HAPPY FOR PPL WHO WANT TO ENJOY NATURE AND LEARN...I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT A GIGA CAN GET UP TO 3-4 FEET IN LESS THAN 2-3 YRS IN CAPTIVITY...AND WHO IS TO SAY WHATWILL HAPPEN TO THE FISH OR ITS OWNER IN 2-3 YEARS...

LET'S BE A LITTLE MORE SENSIBLE FOLKS AND STOP SCARING POTENTIAL HOBBYISTS. I THINK ADVICE ON HOW TO ACCLIMATE THE FISH TO CAPTIVITY MIGHT BE MORE PRODUCTIVE THAN SCARING AND CRITICIZING PPL...JUST MY 2 CENTS...NO OFFENSE BUT I'M SURE SOMEONE WILL BE THOUGH, HAHA

I STAND CORRECTED....

the thing to remember is that a gigas wants to grow up to be 12 to 15 feet !!! :headbang2

its hard to compare to any other fish that we deal with....where your statement would be true......at 5 feet its just an old teenager !!!

thanks for your interest in this thread.
