Care to share a pic or two of the pond?

Being stuck in the fairly high northern hemisphere an outdoor pond with big tropical predators is just a pipe dream sadlt
Oh sorry "My" pond is actually at my parents home I helped dig the hole and stock the thing. Lol and their are no predatory fish in it now just a few large koi 5-6 I beleive I put in their a few years ago at about 2-4 inches their anywhere from 18-24 inches now and still growing but I kinda want to add a few large fish to this pond plus they have a huge yard and I know they wanted a second larger pond I could help dig if it gave me a place to house some larger fish plus their only a 10-15 minute drive away. I can snap a few pics of the pond next time I'm their if you'd like to see it still

Yeah please do, everyone loves to see pics!! :)

mine grew from 5" to 28-30" in 6 months.. hope ur ready for them ;) ... there supposed to hit 48" in the 1st year of life. no fish to be messing around with in most private aquaria imo... 5kgal is a meager attempt to keep them in. $150-200 is approprioate price for them also.

I know the price isn't bad but I just wanted something larger for the 200+ dollar price I'm gonna pay after shipping, and here is my reasoning I talked to the guy selling them and he said their doing good but he also said they can be "fragile" at this size so I was sceptical of spending the price of the fish plus shipping just to have the thing die after I open the packaging, put I in my tank, and it's too late to call the fish DOA and get a return, I'm just thinking about this because I could definitely get some other cool things locally in the same price range. if not all of the other fish I've been wanting like Aro, Pacu, TSN, RTC, a Flagtail or I could go a completely different route and try something like a pair of "teacup" stingrays for that price Idk just a thought about what to do next. Also I figured these fish grew fast but wow I never new it was they grew that fast do they slow down a lot after the first year? If not any of my tanks would be outgrown in a year and my pond would be outgrown in 2-3 unless I just kept upgrading "which is always a possibility" anyways I've got two options if I get the Arapaima and I'm wondering would a tank that 72X24X24 work better or would a tank that's 48X36X24 fit this fish more properly? Because I can move my Oscars around if needed and my alligator snapper is no where near big enough to go in this tank. Any ideas also just your opinion should I go with the aropima, the assortment of "monster fish", or should I try out something alititle different like the stingrays?

Yeah please do, everyone loves to see pics!! :)

Will do these are the only two I had on my phone and they are kinda old and I know the pond is mostly 2 ft but does have a 3 ft drop off its also according to my parents 6-8 ft wide and 10-12 long it's kinda rounded in areas. Hey man also what fish do you have in your profile pic? I saw a gar and some type of eartheater but how many clown loaches are you keeping in their and how large are they don't those things take forever to get that size? Oh and any other fish in your tank? Sorry I just always get interested in other fish keepers tanks.

Don't think I'd bother with the Pima if you're working with tank sizes like you mentioned.

Teacup rays, that's a whole different scenario.
No such thing as a teacup, they'll still get a decent size.

If you're after rays and with the tank sizes you have i strongly suggest true Brazilian hystrix or mini marble motoro, get over to the stingray section and you'll find all the info you need :)

I have approx 36 clown loach ranging from 2" up to 11".
Haven't grown any on myself sadly as only had them around a year, being the longest.
They do take a long time to get any decent size.
8 geophagus Altifrons, pair of 12" spotted gar and a 14" odoe pike

Oh wow that's cool man what size tank do you have it looks big?

Also either of the 180 gallon aquariums would pretty much just be to keep him in until he's about 18-24 inches then it's off to the pond to gain some more size. Lol

I'm still thinking I'll get one, I just want one you know, that's actually how I ended up with most of the weird stuff I have or have wanted since I was an awkward 13 year old. I feel I can house him comfortably up until about 4-5 feet what do you think?
I just really wish I could pick mine out personally to ensure its a healthy young fish but I actually found one for 190 shipped so that's a good deal and it comes with live arrival guarantee on he shipping so I'm alittle less worried about them being fragile as stated by the previous seller.

Also I know the "teacups" stingrays as I said before don't stay small forever like most people would believe,
however I'm really thinking their the freshwater stingray I'd be interested in most I just like them their one of the only ones I've ever seen in person and I could start them off in something like a 40 breeder or even a 55 gallon when pups which is cool and I could house them with just about anything that's a perk being as limited on space as is in my fish room.

I'll probably end up with all three at some point it's just which one to start with which sounds to me like growing out an assortment of monster fish that aren't quite as large as the arapaima in the tank with my Oscars is what I'll do first.

for the arapaima I'll pick one up at some point hopefully sooner then later or possibly when and if I get the rays as I could house them together in the other 180 when small until the arapaima goes in the pond along with some of the other fish I plan to get including a Aro, RTC, TSN, Pacu, Flagtail, Oscar, etc. It's just waiting and picking up these fish as I go I think the arapaima and the red tail would be the only fish to outgrow my current pond supper fast and the red tail would still take awhile based on growth charts.

I know I can get teacups for 75 a peice near me but I'll probably wait to do these once some of my other fish have gone outside or Ive rehomed them with someone who has a larger pond (If for whatever reason I don't upgrade or excavate a new pond myself) but I'm just wondering what people keep with stingrays other then Arowana or discus as I've seen a lot of these combos but few others I'm assuming the Arapaima is a lot like an aro and would work at the size I'm thinking? If I were to house these together whole young I'd love to try a pair of these with my Oscar but I feel the Oscar would produce to much waist and harass the Rays non stop. But how about possibly a pair of semi adult BPs and spotted silver dollars as well that will be in need of an upgrade by the time the arapaima outgrows this tank in 6-8 month idk now I just have to much going on thinking about fish. Haha sorry I like to think out loud on this forum so I can look back later on.

Don't bother with the Arapima, serously. Until you HAVE the appropriately sized pond, have tested it an entire year to make sure you are able to keep it to temperature.

looking for suppliers who can sale me 4 or 5 arapaima fish, preferably at 6 to 10 inches, have a 500000 gallon pond and i serious need to have this species, i live in tanzania east africa
