I am wanting a pretty big tank after I get a job or something...
1500g tank hopefully :) 10' x 5' x 4'.

Um, that's still too small. A tank with a 4' side won't give it enough room to turn around after 6 months. Not to mention when it hits the 10' or larger mark. If you start messing with growth rate, all you are doing is providing improper care for a fish that requires ALOT of knowledge before attempting to own one.

Just the food budget alone is more than 98% of the fish keepers can afford.

To answer your question, a properly cared for gigas will grow in front of your eyes. The two I'm running right now have grown 4" in the last 6 weeks. They also bulk up quickly as well, not just length.

Uhh Dude... Learn how to read dimensions... Its Length x Width x Height, not Length x Height x Width.
So the tank I would be probably getting would be 120" long, 60" wide, 48" tall, but I have not figured out the exact dimensions.

GL on that...

that's still small for the pirarucu.
so wait; i got it now L, W, H!
it was eazy-E-eazy since it souds like NWA!

so how big will the tank be?

yes; they are like bichirs and breathe air so they need a space in between the top of the tank to the water surface!

^^^ two posts up.

The tank I can hopefully get is going to be a 375g for now...
that will hopefully have a lotta asian fish, hopefully not many south american fish.

Ok, so 5' width isn't enough for a 10' fish turn around in. Even at eight months old, a gigas will be far too long to be properly kept in that size tank.

Contender - Funny enough, an arapaima can drown!
