HAH! These guys are called Arapaima gigas for a reason, the gigas part means huge, they are one of the largest freshwater fish 14 (very conflicting info on this) feet and 440lbs. You will need a 5000g tank with superb filtration

in the wild, baby pimas that size are still being taken care of by their dad (arapaima gigas are mouthbrooders) because of this they are very delicate at this age. please be aware that if you do get the fish and you manage to keep it alive, it will out grow the 55 in a matter of weeks
a 10 ft square tank will lat maybe a year and a half to two years, after that i would recommend something at least twice those dimensions (10x20 or more)

I do recall hearing something about baby pimas needing the food from the father or mother that is secreted by the mucus....and if they don't get this they will die. I think they need it till they are around 12"?

I'm sure someone else has heard this before and will chime in. :)

im surpised zoodiver hasnt posted on this yet lol he raises them and im pretty sure he said not to get them unless they are atleast 4 inches long as they are quite delicate before that... i could be quoting that wrong though.
