Arapima is the new redtail catfish

Unfortunately arapimas have recently become cheap. You can now pick them up at around $50-$60. Now they are becoming next big mistreated fish. Here are pics from my Instagram of someone who is keeping two arapimas in a 10 gallon tank.

The same guy talks about how he is going them to move them into a 4' 90 gallon tank when they are 8" long with a white sturgeon, silver Arowana, several plecos and a endii bichir.

Luckily I've had two of my LFS confirm that they will never order in these fish even upon request. They also now do this for RTC, pacu and most fish that get bigger than 3'.

I have never seen them that cheap, personally.

There is a shop up in Cincinnati Ohio that has them for that price. There were also a few post on mfk were someone had said they had gotten their pimas for -$80. But it makes sense because they are a farmed fish.

I got offered one for 850$. I am quite tempted as they are rare here. but even in the 8x4 it wont last.
