my archer fish is takeing a big interest in my new silver dat is this becuase there is another middle and surface dweller or is it something else?

Probably because your Dat is new as has barring on his body, just like the Archerfish. Sometimes fish will follow other fish of similar patterning - I've seen similar behaviour with my One-Spot Synodontis and an Asian Sun catfish.
