My local fish store has the biggest archer fish I've ever seen it has to be at least 7 inches and fat, with a HUGE MOUTH but I'm perplexed he has it in his show tank and that tank is freshwater , I thought archers were brackish, can anyone shed more light on this? thanks

Most any fish can eventually be converted.. As to the actual health and longevity though...

as zoodiver said. they are kept in full fresh very often. and do fine in full fresh. mine was kept in full fresh for over a year...

I have seen healthy ones in fresh, brackish and even marine tanks. That is one fish I would like to keep sometime.

what archer species does best in freshwater then? will they really live as long a life in freshwater as they would in saltier water?

my two archers are doing great, but they are in water with an SG of 1.012

but he won't eat...What should I feed him? I tried krill, and flakes. The goy at the pet store said he ate flakes...what do u guys feed yours? crickets? oh yea I also tried an earth worm. Please help...thanks
