i have a tank with African cichlids mainly peacock species with a few nimbochromis will an archer fish be alright in the tank. its completely full of water is that a problem. if so how about a species of mono

I wouldn't do it. Your looking at Brackish water fish. They need salt unlike your African Cichlids.
You Will Be Ok. Ive got 3 Archers & 2 monos in with Fronti's and Peacocks etc.
Archer's can adapt to full fresh, my tank isn't brackish and iv'e had archers for years. And they get along with other fish, as long as they dont fit in their mouth !
But Africans can be a bit bossy and chase the archers around, So keep an eye on them and you will be fine.

I wouldn't suggest mixing brackish water species with African cichlids. What is the reason why you would want to mix both? Short term, it may work. Long term, the fish suffers due to osmoregulatory issues and stress from constant harassments by the cichlids.
Really bad idea. Aside from the brackish requirements of the fish, the archers that are typically available in the hobby get HUGE. Monos also get huge, and they grow fast. Oh yeah, Monos do best in full salt as they get to be adults as well...
every person i know keeps archers in fresh water, and theyv been alright so i guess you could however the cichlids are going to be kinda dominant

An archer would be fine with your africans. Africans are the saltiest fresh water fish can be, hence the name Rift Lake fish.
The addition of salt to your african tanks provides them with essential trace elements. Of course I breed them and am more concerned with replicating their natural environment than the average hobbyist would be.
