Archer fish with polys?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had this same idea for my pond. The problem is locally if I find clouded archers they are $45+ each. That's a bit much to chance with my polys that could probably eat them. I'd have to grow them out in another tank and currently don't have the room. From the research I've seen there are two others that can survive in fresh water. One is true fresh the other is also found in brackish conditions and from what I've read will "survive" in fresh. Two problems with that 1 I don't like to have fish just "survive" I want them to thrive. 2 they are very hard to distinguish from each other especially juveniles. The difficulty in telling them apart goes for most archers. So if you don't full trust the lfs in question you really are going to have a hard time. I have also read about some aggression issues with most all archers other then clouded. Size issues come into play as well. I still hold out hope that one day I will find a group of clouded archers and have the money and space to do something about it.
