anyone own one of these guys? it's another one on my wish list, i know that they are a brackish fish, and i know how they get their food, and i already have some ideas for a tank for them. Anyone know anything else about them?

i have two archers in a 55- gallon tank right now. They are awesome! i have them with scats and monos and i converted a pleco to brackish and a catfish also. they are doing well make sure you feed them and keep the salinity stable good luck here is a pic of mine.

I have an archer also.....He is around the 8" mark right now....I love them, they are a really cool fish to have! I also have a pic in my gallery....Check it out!

They are a brackish fish, and you can keep them with Monos & Scats. You will need a big tank for these guys, they do get to be a good size! Mine eats pellets, frozen krill, and the occasional cricket!

Good Luck!!!

Jen ;)

Here is a web site about the archers:

that helps alot thanx

mine died. it started to get like fin rot or something. i fed it shrimp / krill / octopus, and he ate fine and was very active. then one day, i found him bitten in half by my piranhas.

I have two Archer fish and I just love them! :D My Archer's go crazy for crickets, ghost shrimp, live blood worms, guppy's and rosies. I also feed them a variety of frozen foods. Here is a great web site for setting up brackish tanks.

I purchased one around 2" in October for my 75 gallon. He is now around 4" and lives with 5 mono's (seabea's and argentinus) a green and ruby scat, figure 8 puffer, 2 angels, pleco, columbian shark and BGK. He tends to chase the mono's out of his territory at the top of the tank, but thats due to the tank being a little over crowded right now, hopefully will be upgrading everyone but the bgk/pleco/angels into a 120 gallon in june or july to convert my salt level higher as it is pretty much close to pure fresh right now. The archer is doing fine though. He will take frozen blood worms or krill (hand fed, be careful there quick ones lol), also live guppies. Def. the king of my tank, hands down.

my LFS has 2 of them right now for about $15

my lfs sell ones that have been breed in total freshwater!! which is sic, never have to worry bout salts, even when they get larger :P

yea i've got 3 archers in a brackish tank just now with 1 (2inch) green scat... i use sand as a substrate and they seem to enjoy it... they LOVE the crickets i feed them, but i'm going to try and cut them back... lol... but i've got some good vids here:
