Archer fish!

nice fish, i've never seen one before
 
There are 6 species or archers but the two most often seen are the jaculatrix and the chatareus which both get over a foot long and can live at least 15 years in a tank, they like lightly brackish tanks. Prices vary widely for them, they are $19 + shipping at Liveaquaria.
 
Those are so cool looking....Have you taught them to shoot your friends in the eye when they look at him ha jk, but an awesome fish :thumbsup:
 
lol, yeah theyre cool.
And they cant shoot at my mates eye.......YET! lol, but when i put an earwig on a stick above him in the tank he will stop right under it and look upwards then swims away :( oh well, he will get it soon enough!
 
I used to have a pair of Archer fish that were about 8”, they would always spit at me whenever I opened the tank lid. :p
 
A friend had one that would put out a cigarette at about five feet from the tank.
 
I read about someone who set up a tree limb above the tank, which had a single christmas light on the end.. He wired it to a switch, and taught the Archer fish to spit at the light on command.. He would get rewarded with food :)
 
I love archers! Looks like you have a nice one with lots of tank space. They are especially attractive in groups but that might be too ambitious at $25 a pop! Just curious what you are feeding him. I had one long ago that I recall being a picky eater.
