Does anybody here currently keep these? Anybody kept them in the past? I am very interested in getting a few for my soon to be finished tank and would like to know more about them from a hobbyists perspective.

I'd treat them pretty much like convicts....though they have an appearance that makes them somewhat look like a mini-argentea :)

VERY mild disposition; a lot like keyhole cichlids. They're not going to be able to stand up against anything that is aggressive. Tend to be a little skittish; understandable given their meekness.

Never seen them for sale anywhere, people need to get breeding this cichlid and spread them around. I know a couple of people including myself who are after this cichlid in the UK.

There are a few suppliers with them in stock, sadly they have minimum orders of 150. I am looking at keeping them in a 100.. I want to know if they become overly aggressive when breeding and if I could keep some other cichlids with them.. of the less aggressive variety.

Their aggressiveness is not a problem. They're the meekest cichlids I've owned, making rainbows look like dobermans by comparison.

Odd, I was told they were very aggressive when they bred. Thats good to know, I should be able to keep a semi peaceful tank with these guys in it as well..

Where have you seen them available?

I've only seen them once recently online, but the pics listed looked nothing like the referance pics on sites like the CRC or in books, so was a bit dubious of them.
