I cant find any red or yellow tails no where i'm debating what to get them or odoes and i cant find no nice red tails, aces are more peacefull, with tank mates

I can get three of them right now but I think there over priced. $35.00 at 4 inch. there at my LFS. TFD had some for $17 a while ago not sure if there still up or not.

I know I am the same way. I have been looking for some Aces for some time. I have a LFS that can get them and they have not been comming through the last few weeks.

As you know Aces are tough to acclimate in your tank because they get fin and tail rot so easly, as to where odoes are real easy to keep and acclimate and will probaly eat right out of the bag.

But I am in the same shoe as you and a few months ago I bought a school of 3 odoes because I could not find aces anywhere and regretted doing so. So my advies is get what you want, or you will always want it when you see it in the lfs.

Aquascape supposedly just got these wild caught from when he was in Peru recently.
Pedro says they are Acestrorynchus altu. Not sure if this is correct. They look alot
like A. Falcatus.
I never heard back on prices when I contacted, so I just gave up.
Here's the link to the pics, maybe you can have better luck getting info.

yea those are altu, compared to falcatus - snout's longer and upturned at end, bit longer body and different tail shape

my redtail had a super long snout when i got him. i traded my odoe for the redtail barracuda and he was on sale for 35 bucks. you should totally go with an ace if you can find them and keep the water good. if you look around there is a thread on how to introduce them and you should follow it. but... once you get them adapted and they are growing quickly and eating, they are so much fun! i have video of mine eating and it is great to watch. they are super skiddish but they are very good looking though.

my odoes were a total pain in the butt, plus you need tons of room for them. they ate everything in my tank even if it did not fit in their mouth. they killed everynight and when it was just them and the payara, i said no more and got rid of them. they would have killed him for sure and he was the same size as the odoes.

i would go with the aces bro. i love mine he is way cool

They always come with fin rot but also there hard to find

I'm guessing either you overlooked them due to your armatus frenzy or they were all out of them at Sharkaquarium. They had some a few weeks ago when I was there.
