Actually the vast ammounts of money made available to dealers by the artificial shortages brought on by draconian law enforcement is what brings on the violence.
I personally think that all drugs should be legal and cheap. Hard drug users (when cheap drugs are available) tend to do one of two things, quit, or die. Either way the problem is solved. Now what we need to do is minimise the damage they do before they do either of those things.

I totally agree with you; however, until hard drugs are legal and cheap (probably many years away), I think it's something a lot of people who use drugs need to consider, despite the fact that many users will still only think of themselves and their next hit.

When you have seen people’s lives thrown away nay, screwing their lives up, due to marijuana you would see how ridiculously dimwitted your comment is, if calling people who drink, or drunk people retarded, what do you call the people who have thrown their lives away, who steal and rob people for money just to score, One of my mates had a similar attitude towards weed and I will tell you where he has ended up.

He was a bright kid, good hearted. He was a good mate, but he was always getting stoned, every week sessions turned into every other day sessions, then that turned into every day sessions. He has lost his trainee ship as a motor mechanic, he’s lost friends by pushing them away. He’s turned into a schizophrenic who always has to be medicated. If he doesn’t take his medications to stop the hallucinations he flips out about god, vampires, monsters etc and is completely genuine about it.

By this time the police usually come and take him to the psyche ward to be induced. His parents are almost to the point of helplessness because this kid is no longer able to support himself, he can’t ever work, he will never be able to drive, what girl would want to marry him? As I said before, he’s pushed a lot of his mates away.

And yes, he too thought it was only harmless.

This may or may not make sense, but if you really think that it doesn’t do anything and it’s fun and harmless, please, I encourage you to go down to your local psyche ward hospital and talk to the people who are on duty about their patrons who enjoy an occasional puff. Ask them if they think that marijuana is harmless fun.

And yes not everyone will turn out like that. But I’ve been thru this crap for years. I have seen how this crap has destroyed this family, What if it was to happen to you? Oh but of cause, you would never let something like that happen to you, you will stop before it gets carried away, and of cause you only smoke occasionally.

I can tell you about this chap who use to take LSD occasionally and is now living inside a soda can in his brain.

Wouldn’t that be fun too?

back in jr high through my senior year in high school; I toked up every so often; but now I'm just done with that stuff. I mean I'm not gonna lie, I'm not totally clean, I still drink heavily but only on occassion.

I agree with lovespun's comment, and guppy I also respect your opinion and to a certain degree I agree with you; but about your comment:

IMO I have to say that regardless of how cheap the drug is, if one continues this life style he would eventually loose his way of life; causing him to lack the funds for his addiction and would eventually commit some sort of crime to feed his needs. How do we "minimize the damage they do before they do either of those things".

And I'm not saying all those that toke up will eventually loose they're way of life; but some do... I mean I honestly know a few people who are in their early 40's still smoking and they continue to live their normal lives; but I know alot more who are now locked up, deported, and even killed all due to drugs; and regardless of what people think I still believe that people will be more willing to try other drugs after they smoke weed. I know because I've been through it and I thank GOD I was able to break my chains.

Is this a problem with alcoholics, that they turn to crime to support their drinking? I'm not trying to criticize; I'd just like to know if there is any information on it. I've found information on alchoholics committing violent crimes because they were drunk, but nothing about them committing crimes to obtain alchohol (other than minors and moonshiners).

I also don't think that many people go broke to buy alcohol because it's so much cheaper. I think if drugs were made cheap and legal, drug addicts would most likely die before they could go broke. Cheap or not, legal or not, people who want to take drugs will get them and take them, and I doubt legalizing them will result in more people using them.

Do you really think that if drugs were cheaper and more obtainable it would not result in more people using them??? I'm really sorry but with our youths and peer pressure I really have to disagree with that statement. Regardless of how hard you try to raise your child right temptation is still there; and I would hate for that to be around my daughter.

i used to smoke everyday, "4-5 nice size jays per day keeps the devils away" that used to be my motto but ever since i got arrested i havent smoked since then, im not against weed in anyway and i dont think the occasional splif hurts anybody, and when my trail is over i will smoke again just not as much as i used to.

But when i was stoned nothing beat looking into my tank and just getting lost in thier world i wouldnt even watch TV it didnt interest me half as much as my tank did.
