Are all trashcans safe to store water for water changes?

I use Rubbermaid Brute trashcans with my fish. No problems whatsoever. They're good to go.

I have also used them with no problem. I did wash it out with tap water and a dollop of bleach to remove any residue and then filled and added some Prime.

I think you're fine with tbe Brute cans. I think you're also fine just refilling the tank straight outta the tap. Just use Prime.

+1 I have a Rubbermaid Brute can that's over 20years old and still holds water
