last i checked, ALL members of the family Lepisosteidae (all true gar species) are illegal in california...unfortunate, but true--

Every state that promulgates a list of restricted species, on the internet, is in a sticky thread in the FAQ forum. It's in alphabetical order so, all you need to do is cursor down to your state to view the listings.

In cali..If you even THINK it might be illegal...It probibly is.

you should update that list. last i heard most lfs in the area are now carrying true gars because they dropped it from the banned list in cali. distributors are now carrying them throughout cali and telling fish store owners cali no longer banned them. (so i heard)
