Are bala sharks slow growers?

I only feed the hikari, tank is between 80 and 86 depending on time of year. and sometimes shrimp if they beat out the cichlids. NEver see eating problems unless its shrimp and then my cichlids think that the shrimp was only meant for one of them, and well I have a few of them so you see the problem with shrimp.

My balas eat like crazy and get plenty of greens that they steal from my plecos. they eat carnivore if they can get to it in time, and on rare ocassion get a chance to peck on massivore. I'm getting almost no growth out of these guys. In fact, my little baby electric blue jack dempsey has surpassed them in size.
