im wanting to know if a bamboo shrimp will attack any of the fish in my community tank. iv got a betta, ember tetras, black kuhli loaches, corys, and a banjo catfish. there's a petco near me that has a huge bamboo shrimp, maybe 3", id just like to know if i can get it and if so what are its basic care needs.

no they are not predatory they dont even have pinchers but they have fans that they use to filter feed i fed mine ground up flake hope that helps

They like well-established tanks. They need high current or decoration near the discharge of your filter to feed. Ground flake is an option. They are very peaceful.

Never known them to be predatory at all. I agree with Rachel. Had one and it just loves to go near filters.lol

excellent! i think ill go pick it up then. im considering the tank established... they just got moved to this one out of a 10 gallon (it was crampt i know, thats why i moved them :) ) and i moved the filter media with them. ill post a pic tomorrow.

Just keep an eye on it, if you see it excessively picking at the substrate with its fans, it may need more food than you are supplementing it with.

And no, they will not eat cherry shrimp.

I saw a few Bamboo shrimp for the first time at the LFS last night, and I want one :D I've never seen a freshwater shrimp so large, I thought it was a crayfish at first glance.

But I'm not sure if my carnivorous plecos will kill it. I have a 3-4" L-264 Sultan pleco, a 2 1/2" L-14 goldy/sunshine pleco, and a 2 1/2" L-114 red-tailed leopard pleco.

What do you guys think? Will I be able to keep bamboo shrimp w/ the aforementioned plecos? Other tank mates are silver dollars, and I plan to add a couple 1" EBJDs soon. Its a 125g tank.

nay they will definetly not eat ANYTHING alive. if it moves, Mr.Bamboo runs....lest it be flake foodge.

i had one a couple months back... house wide plauge got 2 of my tanks....he was in one ;(

R.I.P. ...
