I bought one for myself..a christmas gift. It's perfectly healthy, no deformities. Though one thing I've noticed is that it is VERY aggressive. I've owned aggressive mbunas before, and my blood parrot seems even more aggressive than the mbunas. It's even more aggressive than my friend's dovii.

It kind of looks like this:

They are a fun, funky looking fish. And yes they can be super mean. I have a tank full of killers...lol

It has no deformities? Not sure if I understand that since it's a deformed fish to begin with that is bred to be deformed like a little mutant alien with fins:ROFL:
To each his/her own. I jump all over quite a few friends who own them also so please don't take offense to it.Just messin' with ya. I personally just don't like them and never heard someone say they aren't deformed.

Can't stand them either. To each their own though that's what makes this hobby so great, there's something for everybody.

Mine is no different than any other fish. She is functional in every way, happy, active and alert. She even landed a monster sumo sized boyfriend, she's doing ok.

I have two. One is deformed and the other is not deformed; If you can actually say that. The one without the deformed gill plate and mouth is actually quite large. It is thicker, taller and almost as long as my Red Devil. I think mine were sold as king kong BPs.
