Hi.

I have seen that is a general thinking that the caribes are in fact more agressive than redbellies, but is this necessary true?.:grinno:

The guy that sold me my reds has many piranhas and shoals reds and caribes.

When asked him about the myth of caribe agresiveness over reds he told me this:

"Man, people think caribes are wilder but my reds have taken down two caribes so far, so you tell me who is more agressive?".:naughty:

What can you tell me about your own expirience as piranha keepers guys?.

Share you experience.:headbang2

Cheers.

Only owned reds so I can't share my wisdom but when I first put my 4" rhom in a tank with some convicts the rhom got chased away by 2" convicts...now you tell me which one is more aggressive??

yes caribe are more aggressive then reds.......
just cuz red's might kill a caribe or two dont make red more aggressive cuz most red's red tank breed but all caribe are wild......and i've had them all man....and i think piraya are the most aggressive....

of course. I recently put an other rhom in a the same tank with those damn convicts (after the first rhom was removed) he start to chase those convicts instantly. my point is that to each fish it is different. and it also depends on what the thread starter mean by "aggressive".
I think the hungry one is the most aggressive one regardless it's a rhom, rbp, caribe, piraya, etc.

if the question is which one in general is less skittish then I would agree that caribes are most likely to be the less skittish one compare to rbps.

You have a point here Dude, every fish has its own personality, maybe the tank of my seller was ruled by an specific alfa redbelly so the challenger turned out dead in this case two caribes.

Nor those convicts were killed by the rhom. maybe mine was just a wussy.
The only reason piranhas are more aggressive is because they have sharper teeth. imagine if convicts also have the same kind of teeth as piranha?

I think piranhas are only aggressive towards their potential food sources when hungry in most case.

that is very true.....

but are you thinking of get some caribe?......
i'd just go with piraya....but caribe are badazz

piraya requires a much much larger tank than caribe in order to keep in nice size shoal. but what I don't like about caribe is that the color will start to go away as they age :(
