Are Clarity Freshwater Protein Skimmers Effective?

Hello All .. i was lucky enough to purchase a clarity just over a week ago .. it does make foam LOL ...
for those talking about air ..at the top of the unit there are holes ..that when the water is pumped through drag air into the unit ..very clever..
It's only been on a few days and my koi seem to be acting more feisty than they normally would ..so it is obviously doing something ...

this is very interrresting i have always wanted a protein skimmer on my discus tank and waybe i could make one

I use foam fractionation on my fresh water tanks, the pic below is what it removes
But I don't believe it take any special means other than the standard units. Mine is a DIY venturi model.
The above pic is when it's really ripping, if I keep up with regular water changes that is not the norm.
There are times of the year here, where fast running streams naturally fractionate, same in Lake Michigan after storms, billows of foam are washed ashore.
