I was wondering if figure 8's are fresh or brackish. Internet searches say both....

Do they require full marine when they are grown like the green spotted or just brackish?

After a decade-long study by a Mentor at my forum (RTR), he has concluded F8s do best in low-end BW SG of 1.005. His lived up to 18+ years, as singletons in that SG.

in their native habitat they live in fresh water but the current belief is that they live longer healthier lives in slightly brackish water

I had 2 live over 5 years in a 125 with cichlids and they held thier own, point though is I only added the carton salt now and then to the tank, I only lost them because of a tank crash do to filter fails.fun little guys though.

I agree with PP. Mine stays in a low-end brackish tank with SG around 1.004

How many can you keep in a 20g long peacefully? 1? 2 more?

So their native habitat is fresh water? Interesting
