Are figure 8's fresh or brackish

Excuse me??? You asked for help. The Qs you are asking are all answered in there. That article has also been published in FAMA. It might do you & your fish well, to listen to some of the folks who know what they're talking about. But again--they're your fish... do what you wish but don't come here for help then.
 
To simply answer your question, yes you can have 2 in a 20 gallon, you need 10 gallons each per fishy and additional gallons if you add any other fish (which I wouldn't recommend!).. I would personally only have one just because it means more room for him/her!
