are they? im planning on getting some and start a breeding project.

I've been told that they are fairly easy to breed. However my male and female firemouth were very eccentric fish and absolutely despised one another. They were worst enemies even though they sent there whole lives together. I think the male was just a bad fish.

Yes they are I had a Male bout 4 inch in my 55, so i bought this other firemouth that looked really good and about an inch smaller then the male. I gave both to my friend and 2 months later i geuss they paired up and i didnt know so i got both back and put them in a 15 gallon. They breed 2 weeks later, when i walked in there were like 200 frys and the parents are bucking at me. Both firemouths died cause i took them out of there home and put them in my main tank with other fish

They tend to be one of the easier cichlids to breed but not quite as easy as cons.

guys guys! firemouth or rams!?!?! help me decide.

Generally yes, they are easier to breed than Severum's but harder to breed than Convicts. They require a little bit of a larger aquarium to breed in, than Convict Cichlids, and require plenty of room for the fry. Like most Cichlids, they are dedicated parents to their offspring.
