- You get to mimick nature and see the poly's natural behavior of hunting
- Chasing around for food keeps it in shape
- Poly can eat anytime they want
The Bad
- Nutrition provided by guppys is questionable
- They might contain parasite or disease which could be passed to your polys
- They add unadditional bioload to the tank if not eaten
- Require another additional tank for quarentine (to solve problem 2)
IMO, I don't use feeders as the risks of sickness far outweigh the thrill of seeing them hunt. FD Bloodworms and Krill are good enough for me . Maybe I'll give them a couple of live food like about twice per year when they reach adulthood, solely just as a treat.
but i agree with Spiritofthesoul..
just give the live food for a treat only..
it's hard to tell about the nutritions, the disease, that contained in gappys..
i think my snakeheads that died before, cause by the gappys..
i have lack of information about quarantine the feeder before serving them so i just put them into the tank and let my snakehead enjoy their food..
but now, i just use bloodworms and live shrimps (quarantined)..
still can see and enjoy they hunt for the shrimps..
